LPA, ITCZ to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over 9 areas


PAGASA weather low-pressure area intertropical convergence zone

A low pressure-area, and the Intertropical Convergence Zone are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the LPA was estimated at 300 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

Meanwhile, ITCZ and localized thunderstorms are also expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, mostly in the afternoon and evening, over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA said flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

The synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City also recorded a minimum temperature of 24.8°C at 6:30 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32°C at 1:30 p.m.

Moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected  over Nueva Ecija, Bataan, and Batangas within the next two hours, according to PAGASA.

As of posting time, heavy to intense rain showers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Bulacan, Zambales, and Rizal within the next two hours.

Specific areas affected are Caloocan, Quezon City, Mayantoc, San Jose, Porac, Angeles City, Silang, Cabuyao, Santa Rosa, Binan, Real, Gumaca, Unisan, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Norzagaray, San Jose Del Monte, Santa Cruz, and Candelaria.

Affected residents were advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides. —LBG, GMA News
