LPA, southwest monsoon to bring rains over Cagayan, Western Visayas, Mindanao
Two low pressure areas and the southwest monsoon will be affecting several parts of the country, according to PAGASA on Monday afternoon.
In its 24-hour forecast, the weather bureau said the LPA was located 90 kilometers west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan at 3 p.m., while another LPA was estimated at 315 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
PAGASA said the LPA or the southwest monsoon are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms are also possible, the weather agency warned.
Moreover, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions will prevail over Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden in Quezon City also reported a minimum temperature of 24.4°C at 5:20 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 31.8°C at 1:50 p.m.
The sun will set at 6:18 p.m., PAGASA said. —LDF, GMA News
