Southwest Monsoon to bring rain to Batanes, Babuyan Islands

The Habagat, or Southwest Monsoon, is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, according to PAGASA on Monday afternoon.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions will prevail over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon, while moderate winds and waters should be expected over the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden in Quezon City also reported a minimum temperature of 26.2°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.6°C at 1:50 p.m.

The sun will set at 6:13 p.m., PAGASA said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
