PAGASA continues to monitor LPA east of Eastern Samar

State weather bureau PAGASA said at 3 p.m. Wednesday that the low pressure area was estimated at 960 kilometers east northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as it continues to monitor its movement.

The southwest monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Ilocos provinces, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands, PAGASA said.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Pampanga and Bulacan within the next two hours, according to PAGASA's thunderstorm advisory.

As of posting time, the same conditions are being experienced in Tarlac, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

Affected residents are advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides.—LDF, GMA News
