Habagat to bring cloudy skies, thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands


As of 3 a.m. on Thursday, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 925 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte, PAGASA reported. 

But it would be the effects of the southwest monsoon that will be felt over northern Luzon.

Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Trough of the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms and that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for the northern and western sections of northern Luzon is strong and moving southwestward while coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

The rest of Luzon will have a wind speed of moderate to strong moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

For the rest of the country, wind speed will be light to moderate and moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters remain slight to moderate.
