Julian, Habagat to bring rains, thunderstorms over Metro Manila, other areas


Severe Tropical Storm Julian and the southwest monsoon are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and other areas, according to PAGASA on Saturday.

According to the 24-hour forecast, the other areas affected are the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, and the Samar provinces.

PAGASA warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the center of Julian was estimated 770 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.

It is moving north northwestward slowly, according to the weather agency.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over the rest of the country.

Flash floods and landslides are also possible.

On Saturday, the PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5°C at 6:20 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.8°C at 1:50 p.m.

PAGASA said that a severe weather bulletin for Julian is set to be released at 11 p.m. or earlier. -MDM, GMA News
