Rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms expected over Metro Manila, rest of the country


Localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to PAGASA on Friday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 25.2°C at 5:50 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 34.6°C at 2:30 p.m.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the eye of typhoon Kristine was estimated at 1,285 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

It is moving west northwestward at 15 kph.

Typhoon Kristine, with international name Haishen, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning.

PAGASA will issue a severe weather bulletin on the typhoon at 11 p.m.

According to weather bureau, moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Nueva Ecija and Laguna within the next two hours.

In its 4:01 p.m. thunderstorm advisory, the weather agency said the above conditions are being experienced in Rizal, Quezon, Pampanga, Zambales, Tarlac, Batangas, and Cavite, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.
