LPA to bring rainshowers, thunderstorms over Visayas, other areas


A low pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Caraga, PAGASA said Friday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the state weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the LPA was estimated at 135 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers may also prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods and landslides are also possible, according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression outside the Philippine area of responsibility was estimated at 2,010 east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is moving northwestward at 15 kph.

The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 24.5°C at 6 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 33.8°C at 1:50 p.m.

In its 3:44 p.m. thunderstorm advisory, PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon, within the next two hours.

 

As of posting time, the same conditions are being experienced in Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

Specific areas affected are General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Calaca, Balayan, Lemery, Taal, San Luis, San Simon, San Marcelino, San Antonio, Subic, Lupao, San Jose, and Rizal.

Affected residents were advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods or landslides.—AOL, GMA News
