Red rainfall warning up over parts of Cebu and Palawan
PAGASA issued a red rainfall warning over parts of Cebu and Palawan on Wednesday morning due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
At 8 a.m., the state weather agency said Central Cebu and Kalayaan Islands in Palawan were under the red rainfall warning.
Areas under a red rainfall warning will have more than 30 mm of rain in one hour which may continue in the next two hours.
PAGASA warned of serious flooding and landslides that may occur.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau raised the orange rainfall warning over Leyte, Southern Leyte, Negros Oriental, southern portion of Negros Occidental, Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.
Those under the orange rainfall warning will have 15 to 30 mm of rain within one hour. Floods and landslides pose threats in these areas.
Bohol and Biliran meanwhile were given the yellow rainfall warning, which means 7.5 to 15 mm of heavy rain will be observed in one hour. The rains may continue in the next two hours, and flooding and landslides are possible.
PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to take the necessary precautions.
The next advisory will be issued at 11 a.m., it added.
