Leon, southwest monsoon to bring cloudy skies, rains over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Caraga, Aurora, Quezon


Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Caraga, Aurora, and Quezon brought about by Tropical Storm Leon with the southwest monsoon, PAGASA reported in its Thursday morning forecast.

The bureau also said flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

As of 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Leon was estimated at 665 kilometers west of Ambulong, Batangas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph and moving in the west northwestward direction at 15 kph.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will also be affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms  and flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for the western section of central and southern Luzon is moderate to strong and moving in the southwest to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain moderate to rough.

The rest of Luzon and the western section of Visayas will have moderate to strong wind speed moving in the southwest to southeast direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southwest to southeast direction as coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
