Southwest monsoon to bring scattered rains over MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Batangas, Quezon


The southwest monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas on Friday, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the provinces of Batangas and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The weather continues to monitor the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 3 a.m., Tropical Storm Noul (formerly Leon) was locatd 1,010 kilometers west of central Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 105 kph moving westward at 20 kph.

The western section of Luzon wind speed forecast is moderate to strong and moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The wind speed for the rest of Luzon and the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao will be moderate to strong moving in the southeast to south direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have a light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to southeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
