Cloudy skies, scattered rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas due to LPA, southwest monsoon


The Low Pressure Area (LPA), which will affect most of Luzon, was estimated early Saturday morning  at 405 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan as the southwest monsoon is seen to affect southern Luzon and the Visayas, PAGASA reported.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the provinces of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the LPA and southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The weather bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms with the possible occurrence of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for extreme northern Luzon is light to moderate moving northeastward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

In the Visayas and the rest of Luzon, wind speed is light to moderate moving in the southwest to variable direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

In Mindanao, wind speed is light to moderate moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
