LPA, southwest monsoon to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao


The Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated early Tuesday morning at 355 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte and the southwest monsoon will be affecting western section of Luzon, PAGASA reported.

Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the LPA  and the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau continues to monitor the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Tropical Storm Nangka (formerly Nika) that is located 750 kilometers west of northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness up to 105 kph moving westward at the speed of 20 kph.

The wind speed forecast for the northern and western sections of Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to southeast direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The rest of Luzon will have moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain moderate.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, wind speed will be light to moderate moving in the northeast to northwest while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
