Ofel to bring rains, gusty winds over Samar, Sorsogon

Tropical Depression Ofel is expected to bring rains and gusty winds over the Samar provinces and Sorsogon, PAGASA announced Tuesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the state weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Ofel and the southwest monsoon are also expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and the rest of the Visayas and Bicol Region.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are also possible.

At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Ofel was estimated at 135 kilometers east southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Ofel intensified into a tropical depression on Tuesday afternoon. It is moving north northwest at 15 kph.

?Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides, the weather agency said.

The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 24.3°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.4°C at 3:30 p.m.
