TD Pepito to bring scattered rain, thunderstorms over parts of the country

The trough of Tropical Depression Pepito is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA and the Bicol Region, PAGASA said Monday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather bureau said the center of Pepito was seen 430 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes at 3 p.m. with maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 20 kph.

PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate, with at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers due to the northeasterly surface windflow.

Localized thunderstorms will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The weather agency said flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions will prevail in Northern and Central Luzon, the eastern sections of Visayas, Mindanao and Southern Luzon.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
