Molave to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas


Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the Trough of Typhoon Molave with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

As of 3 a.m. on Tuesday, the eye of Typhoon Molave (formerly Quinta) was located  at 500 kilometers northwest of Kalayaan Islands, Palawan outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness up to 190 kph and moving west northwestward at 20 kph.

Batanes and Cagayan will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the Tail- end of a Frontal System with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

In the western section of Luzon, the wind speed forecast is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to southeast direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The northern section of Luzon will have moderate to strong wind speed moving in the northeast to east direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

For the rest of the country, wind speed will be light to moderate moving in the northeast to southeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The weather bureau is also monitoring an active tropical cyclone outside PAR, a tropical depression located 2,070 kilometers east of central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, gustiness up to 70 kph and slowly moving northwestward.
