Tropical depression to enter PAR on Thursday, may intensify into storm —PAGASA
The tropical depression located at the east of Central Luzon may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either on Thursday morning or afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In an 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the tropical depression, which will be called Rolly once inside PAR, may develop into a tropical storm within 24 hours.
“The Tropical Depression will begin to move generally westward by Saturday afternoon while moving towards Bicol Region,” PAGASA said.
“It will continue to intensify while moving over the Philippine Sea and may reach typhoon category prior to landfall,” it added.
The state weather bureau noted that the weather disturbance is not affecting the weather over any portion of the country as of Wednesday.
According to PAGASA, the tropical depression was located at 1,960 km east of Central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
