Northeasterly Surface Windflow to bring scattered rains over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes, Cagayan


The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting Mindanao while the Northeasterly Surface Windflow affecting Extreme Northern Luzon on Thursday, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a tropical cyclone, which is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsbility (PAR) as of posting time.

Tropical Storm Goni was located 1,705 kilometers east of central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 80 kph and moving westward at the speed of 10 kph.

On Thursday, Caraga and the Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the ITCZ with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes, and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the Northeasterly Surface Windflow with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the northeast to east direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, wind speed will be light to moderate moving in the northeast to north direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
