New LPA packing strong winds spotted outside PAR

Aside from the tropical storm that is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, another low pressure area is being monitored by PAGASA outside of PAR.

According to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, the LPA was 2,560 kilometers east of Mindanao as of Thursday morning.

Based on the wind map, the LPA is expected to enter PAR in the coming days.

Cruz said the LPA is packing strong winds that are over 220 km/h.

"Pagpasok niyan ng PAR sa mga susunod na araw, eh posibleng isang napakalakas na bagyo ito," he said on Unang Balita.

Meanwhile, the tropical storm that is expected to enter PAR within the day will be called Rolly, the fifth cyclone to hit the Philippines in October.

Cruz said the tropical storm may intensify into a typhoon before landfall, which is expected in the Aurora-Quezon area on Monday.  KBK, GMA News
