Ulysses to bring rains with gusty winds over Bicol, Quezon, Samar

Tropical storm Ulysses is expected to bring rains with gusty winds over the Bicol Region, Quezon, and the Samar provinces, PAGASA announced Tuesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains as well as light to moderate damage to structures and vegetations due to moderate to strong winds.

The trough of Ulysses may also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Aurora, Marinduque, Romblon, the rest of Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are also possible.

At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the center of Ulysses was estimated at 400 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

It is moving northwestward at 15 kph.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms may also prevail over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela due to the tail end of a cold front.

The weather agency said moderate to heavy rains may cause flooding or landslides.

Localized thunderstorms may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

A severe weather bulletin on Ulysses is set to be issued at 5 p.m. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
