Rainy forecast for many parts of the country due to Vicky, Tail-end of a Frontal System, amihan


Three weather systems will be affecting the country on Saturday, namely Tropical Depression Vicky that will be affecting the Visayas and most of Mindanao, the Tail-end of a Frontal System that will be affecting Southern Luzon and the northeast monsoon will be affecting northern and central Luzon, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

Central and Western Visayas, Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay will have rains with gusty winds brought about by Tropical Depression Vicky.

Residents are also warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Tail-end of a Frontal System and the tropical depression with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast Monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms but flash floods or landslides may still occur during severe thunderstorms.

As of 3 a.m. on Saturday, the center of Tropical Depression Vicky was estimated at 130 kilometers west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph and moving Westward at 25 kph.

Luzon, Central and Western Visayas will have moderate to strong wind speed moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

In eastern Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao, wind speed forecast is moderate to strong moving southeastward with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the southwest to southeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
