Vicky makes landfall over Puerto Princesa —PAGASA


Tropical Depression Vicky made landfall over Palawan's Puerto Princesa City at 8 p.m., PAGASA announced Saturday evening.

In its 8 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remained over the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Dumaran, Taytay, El Nido, San Vicente, Roxas, Puerto Princesa City, Aborlan, Narra, Quezon, Sofronio Espanola) including Calamian, Cuyo, Cagayancillo, and Kalayaan Islands.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, the center of Vicky was estimated at 70 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is moving west-northwestward at 45 kph.

The next severe weather bulletin on Vicky is set to be released at 11 p.m.

Hazards affecting land

PAGASA said moderate to heavy with, at times, intense rains may prevail over Bicol Region, Isabela, Aurora, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Marinduque, and Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Island until Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Visayas, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Metro Manila, and the rest of mainland Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Cordillera Administrative Region may experience light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains.

“Flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall,” PAGASA said.

Hazards affecting coastal waters

Meanwhile, the following seaboards will experience rough to very rough seas in the next 24 hours:

  • the entire seaboards of Northern Luzon
  • the seaboard of Aurora
  • the eastern seaboard of Quezon including Polillo Islands
  • the seaboard of Camarines Norte
  • the northern seaboard of Camarines Sur
  • the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes
  • the eastern seaboard of Albay including Rapu-Rapu Islands
  • the eastern seaboard of Sorsogon
  • the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar
  • the eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar including Homonhon Island
  • the eastern seaboard of Dinagat Islands
  • the eastern seaboard of Surigao del Norte
  • the seaboard of Surigao del Sur
  • the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental

Moderate to rough seas will also be experienced over areas under TCWS No. 1, the seaboards of Agusan del Norte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental, and the remaining seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, and Zamboanga del Norte.
