Tail-end of frontal system to bring rains over 10 areas across the country—PAGASA
The tail-end of a frontal system is affecting Southern Luzon, bringing rains to at least 10 areas in different parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Sunday.
In its 11 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Bicol Region and Quezon including Polillo Islands.
Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate rains can be experienced over Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Mindanao, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, and the rest of CALABARZON.
PAGASA warned of possible flooding including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall.
This can happen especially in areas that are prone to these hazards or in localities that received significant amounts of rainfall over the past couple of days or weeks.
PAGASA added that flooding can also be experienced in nearby areas even without rainfall due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.
Due to this, PAGASA advised public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take appropriate measures and monitor the weather bureau’s updates.
PAGASA Regional Services Divisions will issue local thunderstorm or rainfall advisories and heavy rainfall warnings in their respective areas of responsibility, it said.
Meanwhile, the Hydrometeorology Division as well as the River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Centers will release general flood advisories and river basin flood advisories or bulletins, it added. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
