LPA, ITCZ to bring rains, thunderstorms over Bicol, Visayas

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail over the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), PAGASA announced Friday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency said flash floods or landslides are possible in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

At 10 a.m. PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 70 kilometers northwest of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or 60 km east-northeast of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

It is also expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA said it has no significant impact.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may, meanwhile, prevail over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas due to the ITCZ.

The state weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 22°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 30°C at 2 p.m.—AOL, GMA News
