LPA, ITCZ, Amihan to bring cloudy skies, rains over Philippines

State weather bureau PAGASA on Sunday afternoon said cloudy skies with rains will prevail over the country within the next 24 hours due to a low pressure area (LPA), an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was last spotted 45 kilometers southwest of General Santos City, “embedded” along the ITCZ affecting Mindanao and Palawan.

The tail-end of a frontal system was also affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon, while Amihan was affecting the rest of Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms were forecast over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms were also expected in CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and the rest of MIMAROPA.

Cloudy skies with rains were also seen to prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora due to Amihan.

PAGASA advised residents of the said areas to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains were forecast over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. No significant impact was expected. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
