Moderate to heavy rains in parts of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon
Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, and the eastern portion of Cagayan are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains in the next 24 hours due to the combined effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of a frontal system, PAGASA said on Wednesday.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the LPA developed east of Southern Luzon at 8 a.m. and it was estimated at 250 km east of Virac, Catanduanes at 10 a.m.
However, it is less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
The Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Camarines Norte, and the rest of Cagayan Valley are also expected to experience light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
The tail-end of a frontal system is affecting the eastern section of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, the LPA at the northeast of Romblon, Romblon dissipated at 8 a.m.
PAGASA warned that flooding, including flashfloods, and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall, especially in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards or in localities that received significant amount of rainfall during the past couple of days or weeks.
Adjacent or nearby areas could also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.
