Rainfall

Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon will have moderate to heavy rains on Monday.

Aurora and the rest of Visayas, MIMAROPA, and CALABARZON will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, Bulacan, Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Batanes will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

PAGASA warned of isolated to scattered flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides during times of heavy or prolonged rainfall in areas prone to these hazards, as well as in adjacent or nearby areas due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.

Winds

Auring and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring strong breeze to near-gale conditions with occasionally higher gusts over areas under TCWS.

The same conditions will be felt over Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the northern portions of Ilocos Norte and mainland Cagayan, Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, and the rest of Visayas and Bicol Region.

Coastal waters

Rough seas will be experienced in the next 24 hours over:

  • the seaboards of areas under TCWS
  • the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon
  • the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon not under any TCWS (2.5 to 3.5 m)
  • the southern seaboard of Luzon; and
  • the remaining seaboards of Visayas (2.5 to 3.0 m)

"Sea travel is risky especially for those using small seacraft," PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas (with waves up to 2.5 meters) will be experienced over the remaining seaboards of Luzon and the northern and western seaboards of Mindanao not under TCWS.

Those with small seacraft are urged to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea.

Location

At 4 a.m., the eye of Auring was located at 195 km east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

Auring continued to weaken approaching the islands of Dinagat and Homonhon.

Initial landfall is seen to occur over the Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar (southern portion including Homonhon Island)-Leyte area in the next 6 to 12 hours.

PAGASA said Auring may likely further weaken before landfall due to the high vertical wind shear associated with the surge of the monsoon.

After landfall, Auring is expected to weaken considerably.

The next severe weather bulletin will be issued at 8 a.m.

Classes

Some local government units announced the cancellation of classes in their areas due to bad weather. —KG, GMA News
