Easterlies to bring isolated rainshowers across Philippines

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the Easterlies and localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said Thursday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency said flash floods and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, severe tropical storm Surigae was located 1,140 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

It is moving westward slowly.

PAGASA said Surigae is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday night or Friday morning and will be called Bising.

It may also intensify into a typhoon in the next 36 hours.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has instructed its regional counterparts to start preparations for the possible effects of Surigae. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
