Surigae enters PAR, now called Severe Tropical Storm Bising —PAGASA

Severe Tropical Storm Surigae has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and will now be known as Bising, PAGASA said Friday.

Bising entered PAR at 6:20 a.m. on Friday, according to PAGASA.

A severe weather bulletins will be issued later at 11 a.m.

Bising's trough is likely to bring thunderstorms to several areas in Mindanao on Saturday, especially in the afternoon, according to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz on Unang Balita.

Visayas, meanwhile, is expected to start experiencing the effects of Bising on Sunday.

Metro Manila is likely to experience light rains on Sunday, especially in the afternoon and evening, Cruz said.

Bising is not expected to make landfall although it may reach super typhoon level, Cruz said, citing forecasts by international weather agencies. Some areas in Samar Island and the Bicol Region, however, may be placed under Signal No. 3.  —KBK, GMA News
