Typhoon Bising weakens slightly, moves over sea east of Catanduanes
Typhoon Bising has slightly weakened and decelerated as it moves west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of Catanduanes, PAGASA said Sunday.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the national weather bureau said the typhoon is moving from 20 kph (kilometers per hour) to 15 kph east of Sorsogon.
As of 4 p.m., Bising was located at 290 km east of Virac, Catanduanes.
PAGASA will bring moderate to heavy rain with at times intense rains over Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region.
The typhoon also weakened and is packing maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph, PAGASA also said.
PAGASA said Bising is expected to move slowly northwestward over Philippine Sea east of Bicol until Monday morning. The typhoon will then move northward until Tuesday afternoon before turning north-northwestward east of Cagayan Valley.
"By Wednesday early morning, the typhoon is forecast to turn northeastward or east northeastward away from the landmass of Luzon," the nation's meteorologists said.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remains over:
- Catanduanes
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1 is hoisted over the following areas:
- The eastern portion of Camarines Norte (San Lorenzo Ruiz, San Vicente, Vinzons, Talisay, Daet, Mercedes, Basud), Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands
- Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and the northern portion of Cebu (Tabogon, Borbon, San Remigio, Bogo City, Medellin, Daanbantayan) including Bantayan and Camotes Islands
- Dinagat Islands, Siargao Islands, and Bucas Grande Islands
