Signal No. 2 up in 3 Luzon areas as Bising keeps strength


Typhoon Bising maintains its strength and is moving towards the Philippine Sea east of Northern Aurora, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.

In a 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said the typhoon was moving northward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) and was last spotted 395 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday evening or Sunday (April 25) morning.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is up in the following areas:

  • the eastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Peñablanca, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Aparri)
  • the eastern portion of Isabela (San Pablo, Maconacon, Divilacan, Ilagan, Palanan, San Mariano, Dinapigue)
  • the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag)

TCWS #1 is hoisted in the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • the rest of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
  • the rest of Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Barlig, Natonin, Paracelis, Sadanga, Bontoc)
  • the eastern portion of Ifugao (Banaue, Lagawe, Mayoyao, Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Hingyon)
  • the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Diadi)
  • the central portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Baler)
  • the southeastern portion of Quezon (Calauag, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan)
  • Polillo Islands
  • Camarines Norte
  • the northern portion of Camarines Sur (Del Gallego, Ragay, Lupi, Sipocot, Cabusao, Calabanga, Goa, San Jose, Tinambac, Siruma, Lagonoy, Garchitorena, Presentacion, Caramoan, Libmanan, Magarao, Bombon)
  • Catanduanes

The nation’s weather bureau also warned of “tropical cyclone winds” and destructive typhoon-force winds in affected areas.

“In the next 24 hours, the northeasterly wind flow enhanced by the typhoon will also bring strong breeze to near gale conditions with higher gusts over the coastal and mountainous areas of Northern Luzon that are not under any Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal,” read the weather bulletin.—LDF, GMA News
