Bising weakens into severe tropical storm

Typhoon Bising has weakened into a severe tropical storm, PAGASA announced Friday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said Bising is expected to further weaken into a tropical storm by Saturday before transitioning into an extratropical cyclone on Monday.

The center of Bising was estimated at 825 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

It is moving northeastward at 15 kph.

PAGASA said Bising may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, Bising will bring moderate to rough seas over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seabord of Central Luzon.

“Mariners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over these waters. Inexperienced mariners of these vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions,” PAGASA said.

A severe weather bulletin on Bising will be issued at 11 p.m.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
