6 areas under Signal No. 1 as TD Crising maintains strength, moves westward
Six areas in Mindanao were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Crising maintained its strength on Thursday morning while moving westward.
In its 8 a.m. Severe Weather Bulletin, PAGASA said the six areas under Signal No. 1 were:
- Surigao del Sur,
- Agusan del Sur,
- Davao Oriental,
- Davao de Oro,
- Davao del Norte,
- Davao City
PAGASA said Crising is likely to make landfall over Surigao del Sur-Davao Oriental area between Thursday night and early Friday morning.
"Between today and tomorrow (14 May) morning, moderate to heavy rains over Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte," PAGASA said.
It added that under these conditions, isolated to scattered flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides are possible during heavy or prolonged rainfall.
"Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels," PAGASA said.
At 7 a.m. on Thursday, the center of '"Crising" was estimated based on all available data at 405 km east of Davao City (07.0 °N, 129.5 °E).
Crising, PAGASA said, is moving westward at 10 km/h. It is seen to weaken into a "remnant low" on Sunday morning while passing over Palawan and dissipate shortly afterwards. --KBK, GMA News
