Heat index hits 49°C in Dagupan City on Sunday


Dagupan City in Pangasinan on Sunday recorded the hottest heat index in the country on Sunday at 49°C, according to PAGASA.

The state weather bureau said the second hottest heat index was recorded at Sangley Point in Cavite at 46°C.

Aparri in Cagayan and San Jose in Occidental Mindoro experienced 45°C each, while Ambulong in Batangas and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte experienced 44°C.

PAGASA warned that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Heatstroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity.

Earlier, the PAGASA station at the Science Garden in Quezon City reported a minimum temperature of 27.1°C at 6:10 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 35.7°C at 1:50 p.m. — DVM, GMA News
