Dante makes 6th landfall over Oriental Mindoro
Tropical storm Dante has made its sixth landfall over Pola, Oriental Mindoro at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to PAGASA.
In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said Dante will pass near or in the vicinity of the southwestern portion of Batangas before making another landfall over Bataan on Wednesday evening.
The center of Dante was last estimated over the coastal waters of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness up to 90 kph.
It is moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) No. 2 remained over:
- The northern and central portion of Oriental Mindoro (Roxas, Bongabong, San Teodoro, Puerto Galera, Baco, City of Calapan, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pola, Pinamalayan, Gloria, Bansud)
- The northern and central portion of Oriental Mindoro (Sablayan, Santa Cruz,
- Paluan, Mamburao, Abra de Ilog) including Luban Islands

PAGASA said Dante may weaken into a tropical depression on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It is also expected to further weaken into a low pressure area on Saturday.
The next severe weather bulletin will be issued at 8 p.m.
Hazards affecting land areas
From Wednesday to Thursday afternoon, Dante is expected to bring moderate to heavy with, at times, intense rains over Cavite, Batangas, Romblon, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Bataan, Zambales, and Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, the rest of Central Luzon and CALABARZON, Metro Manila, the northern portion of Palawan, including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, Aklan, and Antique will experience moderate to heavy rains.
Light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains may also prevail over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Abra, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and the rest of MIMAROPA.
PAGASA warned against widespread flooding and landslides.
Hazards affecting coastal waters
Rough to very rough seas will also prevail over the seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 2
PAGASA said sea travel is risky for small seacrafts.
Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas will prevail over the seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 1, the eastern seaboard of the Bicol Region, and the remaining seaboards of Visayas, the seaboard of Caraga, the northern seaboard of Northern Mindanao, and the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental.
“Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions,” PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, a red rainfall warning was raised over Occidental Mindoro and the northern portion of Palawan due to Dante.
PAGASA said that serious flooding is expected in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.—LDF, GMA News
