ITCZ, Southwest Monsoon to cause rains over most parts of the country

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will cause rains over most parts of the country on Sunday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Region and Negros Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the monsoon and localized thunderstorms. 

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.

PAGASA said it is monitoring a weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

As of 3 a.m. Sunday, Tropical Storm Champi was located at 2,120 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h. 

Champi is moving north northeastward at 25 km/h.
