Several areas in Luzon are to expect monsoon rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat, which will continue to affect the country on Saturday as Typhoon Fabian exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Fabian is outside PAR 630 kilometers north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 170 kph and moving northward at 15 kph.

Flash floods or landslides, the weather bureau said, may occur in these areas due to scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains.

Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms also due to the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao is moderate to strong moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to strong.

The rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate wind speed moving southwestward while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
