Southwest Monsoon to bring moderate to heavy rains over Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the country on Monday and is expected to bring moderate to at times heavy rains over Luzon, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

The Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro will have monsoon rains, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Habagat. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during moderate to at times heavy rains.

As for the rest of the country, these areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said two tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility are drawing in the Southwest Monsoon. These are Typhoon In-Fa (formerly Fabian) and Tropical Storm Nepartak.

Coastal waters will be moderate to strong in Luzon and Visayas, and slight to moderate in Mindanao.
