TD Gorio seen to intensify into tropical storm but may exit PAR Thursday —PAGASA

Tropical Depression Gorio may intensify into a tropical storm over the next 12 hours but is unlikely to directly affect the country's weather condition, PAGASA said Wednesday.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or Habagat may bring moderate to heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and some parts of the western section of Central and Southern Luzon.

No tropical cyclone wind signal was raised, with the track forecast showing that the hoisting of TCWS over any land area is less likely.

PAGASA said TD Gorio may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.

TD Gorio, which developed from a low pressure Area over the Philippine Sea at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, is forecast to continue moving east northeastward in the next 12 hours and will turn north northeastward by Thursday morning based on its forecast track.

As of 10 a.m., the center of Gorio was estimated based on all available data at 730 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa

Gorio is moving east northeast at 20 km/h, with strong winds or higher extend outward up to 300 km from the center.  —KBK, GMA News
