Southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over 8 north Luzon areas


The southwest monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas on Saturday while two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

Ilocos Region, Zambales, Benguet, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to southwest monsoon / localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Luzon and Visayas will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving southwestward with moderate to strong coastal waters.

Wind speed forecast in Mindanao is light to moderate moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Tropical Storm Mirinae (formerly Gorio) was located at 3 a.m. 1,725 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds at 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph moving int eh east northeast direction at a speed of 30 kph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Lupit is located at 535 kilometers north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds at 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph and moving slowly in the east northeast direction.
