Southwest Monsoon, LPA trough to bring rains over most parts of the country

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA) will bring rains over many parts of the country on Monday, PAGASA said.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Flash floods may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.

The Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga on the other hand will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough or extension of the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.

At 3 a.m., the LPA was located at 610 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The LPA is not expected to intensify into a tropical depression.

Coastal waters will be moderate to strong in Luzon and Visayas, and slight to moderate in Mindanao.

Sunrise was at 5:41 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:22 p.m. —KG, GMA News
