Lannie now over Cuyo Island; 7 areas under Signal No. 1


Tropical Depression Lannie is now over the coastal waters off Cuyo island, PAGASA reported.

According to the Severe Weather Bulletin posted at 2 a.m., The center of Lannie was estimated over the coastal waters of Cuyo in Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center with gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 1004 hP and moving west northwestward at 25 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 has been hoisted over the following areas:

LUZON

  • southwestern portion of Romblon (Odiongan, Looc, Alcantara, Ferrol, Santa Fe,  San Jose)
  • the southern portion of Oriental Mindoro (Roxas, Mansalay, Bulalacao)
  • the southern portion of Occidental Mindoro (Calintaan, Rizal, San Jose, Magsaysay)
  • the northern portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Dumaran, Araceli) including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

VISAYAS

  • Antique
  • the western portion of Aklan (Madalag, Malinao, Ibajay, Nabas, Malay, Buruanga)
  • the southwestern portion of Iloilo (Leon, Alimodian, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Igbaras, Guimbal, Miagao, San Joaquin, San Miguel, Oton)

HEAVY RAINFALL

On Tuesday, moderate to heavy rains are likely over the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are also possible over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, and the rest of MIMAROPA.

The weather bureau further reported that isolated to scattered flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are likely especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps.

The residents of areas under TCWS No. 1 will experience strong winds with occasional gusts as well as moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters of the country.

Lannie is forecast to make another landfall in the vicinity of northern mainland Palawan or Calamian Islands this morning before emerging over the West Philippine Sea. -- BAP, GMA News
