Cloudy skies, scattered rains over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol due to trough of Maring

Tropical Storm Maring intensifies further and remains a large tropical cyclone on Saturday, PAGASA reported.

The center of Tropical Storm Maring was estimated at 875 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 105 km/h, central pressure of 992 hPa and moving east northeastward at the speed of 15 km/h.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Nando accelerates westward as it interacts with the circulation of nearby Maring.

The center of Tropical Depression Nando was estimated at 1,105 kilometers east of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving Westward at 25 km/h.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently in effect.

Visayas, Mindanao, and Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) / trough of Maring with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to ITCZ / localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Maring and Tropical Depression Nando are embedded within the larger circulation of a monsoon depression.

Nando, however, continues to act with the circulation and may be assimilated and merged with Maring. -- BAP, GMA News
