Cloudy skies, rains over Palawan, Catanduanes, Samar Provinces due to LPA embedded in the ITCZ


At 3 a.m. on Thursday, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 675 kilometers east of Borongan City, eastern Samar embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao while the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

Palawan, Catanduanes, and Samar Provinces will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the LPA / ITCZ with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan and Apayao will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Bicol Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon with no significant impact.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving northeastward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to east direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the north to northwest direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
