Shear line to bring scattered rains over Batanes, Cagayan and Isabela

Parts of Luzon and Mindanao will have scattered rains or rain showers on Monday due to the shear line and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

Batanes, Cagayan and Isabela will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shear line, defined as a narrow zone where there is an abrupt change in the horizontal wind component parallel to this line. Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.

Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. During times of moderate to heavy rains, flash floods or landslides may result.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. Residents may encounter flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the seaboards of Northern Luzon (with waves up to 4.5 meters tall) and the rest of Luzon (with waves possibly reaching up to 4 meters).

The seas will be slight to moderate meanwhile in the seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.

Sunrise was at 6:04 a.m. while sunset will be at 5:25 p.m. —KG, GMA News
