Cloudy skies, scattered rains over Mindanao, parts of Visayas due to trough of Typhoon Nyatoh


The northeast monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas on Friday, according to PAGASA in its latest forecast.

The weather bureau continues to monitor the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Nyatoh is located 1,645 kilometers east of northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 215 kph and moving northeastward at 25 kph.

Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros provinces, and the southern portion of Palawan including Kalayaan Island will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the Trough of Typhoon Nyatoh with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon with no significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon with no significant impact.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao is moderate to strong moving in the northeast to north direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
