Odette traverses Panay Gulf, Signal No. 3 over 6 areas
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 has been lifted as Typhoon Odette traverses the Panay Gulf but many areas remained under TCWS No. 3, 2 and 1, according to the 5 a.m. Tropical Cyclone Bulletin posted by PAGASA.
As of 4 a.m., the center of the eye of Typhoon Odette was located at 75 kilometers southwest of Iloilo City packing maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 235 kph, central pressure of 950 hPa, and moving westward at 35 kph.

HEAVY RAINFALL
Heavy to torrential rains will be experienced in Western Visayas, Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, and Negros Oriental. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over the Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Quezon, and the rest of MIMAROPA.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Aurora, Lanao del Sur, and the rest of Visayas,
Residents in the affected areas are warned that scattered to widespread flooding, including flash floods and rain-induced landslides are expected especially in susceptible areas.
SEVERE WINDS
Destructive typhoon-force winds will be experienced within any of the areas where TCWS No. 3 is in effect, while damaging winds reaching gale- to storm-force strength will be experienced within any of the areas where TCWS No. 2 and strong winds (strong breeze to near gale) with higher gusts will be experienced in areas under Signal No. 1.
There is a moderate to high risk of storm surge of up to 3.0 m in height in the next 24 hours which may cause life-threatening flooding in the low-lying coastal areas of Negros Provinces, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and several localities in the northern portion of Palawan (including Calamian, Cuyo and Cagayancillo Islands).
Moderate to very high seas will be experienced over the seaboards of areas where TCWS is in effect. The condition poses as a risk for all types of sea vessels. Mariners are advised to remain in port or take shelter in port until winds and waves subside.
With Odette and the influence of the northeast monsoon, Gale Warning remains in effect for several coastal waters not under any wind signal, specifically the seaboards of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Mindanao.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
Moving generally westward, the typhoon is forecast to cross the Sulu Sea and pass near or in the vicinity of either Cuyo or Cagayancillo archipelago this noon before making landfall in the vicinity of northern or central portion of Palawan this afternoon. -- BAP, GMA News
