Scattered rain expected over south Luzon, Kalayaan Islands


Typhoon Rai, formerly Typhoon Odette, was 545 kilometers northwest of Pag-Asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan at 3 p.m., further away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said a Sunday afternoon forecast.

Rai was headed northwest at 25 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 175kph and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by a shear line could be expected over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and Kalayaan Islands.

Also, the Northeast Monsoon would bring cloudy skies with rain over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

The rest of the country would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas would experience moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east. Over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas, winds would be light to moderate.

Sunday's maximum temperature was 27.2 °C recorded at 1:50 p.m., while the minimum temperature of 23.0 °C was recorded at 5:20 a.m. — DVM, GMA News
