LPA, ITCZ to bring scattered rain showers over Mindanao, Visayas, Palawan
A low pressure area (LPA) located east of Davao City and embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone will cause cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Sunday over Mindanao, Visayas and Palawan, PAGASA said in its early morning weather forecast.
Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.
At 3 a.m., the LPA was located at 200 km east of Davao City.
"Mababa ang tsansa na itong LPA ay maging bagyo," PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said in a briefing.
(The chances of this LPA becoming a tropical depression are low.)
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Flash floods or landslides may result during severe thunderstorms.
Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
