Cloudy skies with scattered rains over Visayas, Mindanao, 3 areas due to LPA, ITCZ


At 3 a.m. on Friday, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 350 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that will be affecting Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA reported.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a tropical cyclone outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The tropical depression is located 2,270 kilometers east of Mindanao with packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph and moving westward at a speed of 10kph.

Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the LPA / ITCZ with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow with no significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving northeastward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Visayas and the rest of Luzon will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Mindanao will experience moderate wind speed moving in the northwest to west direction while coastal waters will remain moderate.
